Jeff's Projects
This website design and development project was the second GreenLite project I worked on for Michigan State University. The Department of Human Development and Family Studies went through a rebranding process. Their former name (Family and Child Ecology) was becoming outdated and irrelevant along with their former website at http://fce.msu.edu.
MSU HDFS required extensive information architecture. With several audiences including prospective and current graduate students, similar undergraduate students, current faculty, and potential donors and grant writers, there was a plethora of information to provide. In addition, HDFS wanted to showcase their faculty as a way to entice prospective graduate students.
I led the development effort for this project, using extensive Drupal modules including CCK and Views. We created custom content types for Faculty Members and Non-Faculty staff, and then we created views to display faculty in various departments as well as in a main faculty listing. HDFS website administrators can now add, edit, and organize faculty members by filling out a simple form on their website.
I helped my mom start a website for her business, Body Transformation by KJ. This was one of my first Drupal projects, so it was a great learning experience. I started by purchasing a domain name and hosting account, and then I did a native install of Drupal 6.x. I did all of the development of this site from installing the databases to configuring the blog.
I wrote a majority of the content for this site (except the blog) and integrated it using the TinyMCE editor with Drupal's WYSIWYG module. I also developed the logo for the website, which is now used on all branded material including business cards, flyers, and published books. KJ hosts a number of fitness classes in the Massachusetts area, so I helped her create a PayPal account and add custom payment buttons, allowing people to sign up for classes through the website.

i3 Strategies is a Lansing-based business that helps organizations, politicians, and political committees promote themselves and spread their message with social media websites like Twitter and Facebook. I worked with Julielyn Gibbons, owner of i3 Strategies, to help make her company's website more visually appealing and more integrated with her own social media presences.
My research paper on Argentina's online education portal, Educ.Ar, is part of a class I took at Michigan State University focused on examining the effect of telecommunications technologies on developing nations. In this paper, I examine the effects of the Educ.Ar system on the education system in rural areas of Argentina.
